Big Win for Solar Homeowners: Your Investments Are Protected!

Great news for solar users across the state! Thanks to an incredible outpouring of support from homeowners like you, a major threat to rooftop solar has been defeated. Legislators in the State Senate overwhelmingly voted yesterday to protect existing solar contracts, securing the benefits for millions.

What Happened?

A bill known as AB 942 posed a serious risk to 2 million rooftop solar contracts. If passed, it would have unfairly penalized solar users just for choosing clean energy. This was a direct attack on the investments homeowners have made in solar power.

Your Voice Made the Difference

This victory wouldn't have been possible without the extraordinary efforts of concerned citizens. Your calls, emails, and advocacy demonstrated the powerful impact of a united community. It showed legislators just how much Californians value their solar independence and the clean energy future.

What This Means for Your Solar Home and Savings:

This legislative win brings significant peace of mind and concrete protections for your solar investment:

Your Solar Savings are Secure When You Sell Your Home:

This is a huge victory! If you decide to sell your home, your existing solar contract, often referred to as "Net Metering" (NEM), will remain with the property. This means new owners will inherit the same solar benefits and savings you've enjoyed, adding significant value to your home.

No Changes to Your Current Contract:

The worrying possibility of your solar contract being shortened or your hard-earned benefits being reduced is officially off the table. Your solar investment is safe and sound, just as you planned.

Climate Credit is Protected

You will continue to receive your valuable Climate Credit. The only minor adjustment in the bill affects a very small percentage of individuals who use minimal electricity from the grid, and this change is not related to having solar panels.
